Ever dream of rose gold hair? It’s been a while since we’ve posted any colour transformations lately. So I thought we should go for a big one! This picture below shows Magdalena and her dark mahogany violet hair. We wanted to go for a shadow root or balayage concept for easy maintenance. This technique would make it easy for colour touch-ups until the blend grows farther down and is needed to get painted up again.
Before the 4.5 hour process
It took us a while but we got it!!!
Suitability
Magdalena has fair skin with warm tones so we decided to keep the colour quite warm still. Rose gold hair is perfect for her! I’ve always pictured her as a blonde, therefore, anything lighter than her natural (light ash brown) would suit her AND compliment her skin tone. We decided on a rose gold with a metallic reflexes so that the colour would shimmer in bright lights. In order to achieve something like this you need to take out almost all of the warmth and bring it to a light blonde. The lighter we lift, the more of the metallic reflex will be shown.
Technicals
With an opportunity like this transformation I decided to use Olaplex formula to protects Magdalenas’s hair. Olaplex is known amongst the hair industry as the catalyst of healthy hair during a drastic colour change. In other words, your hair won’t be on the ground after you achieve your six level lightening jump. We add this product within our lightener to keep the hair bonds strong. It also comes with a treatment mask to rebuild the internal strengthening bonds of the hair. If you are interested in doing a change like this or any type of drastic change then call in and book a consultation with us so we can create a game plan!
We had to capture the emotional middle stage of this process
Toning Magda’s hair was just too much fun! I used Maraes colour from Karaal to get the shadow root and for the rose gold I used a combination of Maraes and Pravana. I prepared half of the Pastel Lavender and Pastel Coral.
Ever said no to a cup of java at Pino’s? I’m not a big fan either but based on research, its not a bad thing to take a look at. Scientists that have tested the concept concluded that caffeine is a stimulator of human hair growth. Men that are insecure of their hair loss are in between the dilemma of these options:
Hair implants that involve surgery and thousands of dollars
Drugs like Rogaine and Propecia that may have side effects
Research
There are millions of dollars that are put towards the research for anti-hair loss each year but it just seams like genetics has a stronger hold on how you can keep or lose whats on your head.
Scientists took biopsies of 14 scalps in the early stages of hair loss and then exposed them to solutions of different levels of caffeine. They also exposed some of the follicles to DHT (the hormone responsible for hair loss). After 8 days, even the hair follicles exposed to the DHT showed growth. They also found that it was greatest in follicles that were placed in solutions of caffeine only.
Now, based on that solution, drinking any form of caffeine would take you up to 60 cups a day. This is about 6000mg of caffeine, which might regrow your hair after your heart stops—definitely not the safest solution but it is comforting to know this helps to some extent.
Have you ever felt the need to escape sometimes? When we are in the same loop week to week and the previous week is a mirror vision of the upcoming 9-5 schedule that is waiting for you it might cross our minds to just escape society. This is where the heart of our style proposal stems from. Some people will leave on a trip or vacation, others might undertake an expedition into the wild or face their fears in order to reset the soul by doing something like sky diving or deep sea scuba diving. Any of these ideas involve a certain action plan that must be completed before a rest can happen. There are some ways to reset the soul that involve no plan of action and no itinerary. Our vision comes from teenagers that are seeking a new way of being and in turn creating the style proposal we have created.
With the help of photographer Vincenzo Cherubino we have created a 2015 autumn style collection which arises from an early 90’s grunge feel with a rebellious attitude. We worked along side fashion stylist Kassi Meslo to put the 90’s wardrobe together and she nailed it! The make-up was provided by the very talented Kelly Parker. These three friends take the train down memory lane and express themselves in their own individual way. This is our way of exposing the spirit of our collection. Enjoy!
This photo shows the rebelious attitude in the collection. From Ksenija’s un-done hair to her Betsy Johnson Stomp sparkle boots. She’s rocking vintage Escada jean shorts with shredded black tights and a BH Emporium crop top. Her leopard vest is from Lucynna Jaworski and she’s got Versace clip-on earrings.
Although the collection is rugged, we wanted to show the contrast in textures with Laura. Her beautiful curls under her pink lace Linda Lundstrom hoodie and virgin zip mini dress.
This scene screams 90’s! Our fashion stylist (Kassi Meslo) incorporated some props from the 90’s for some nostalgia. Brandon is wearing BMW original racing pants with a 90’s icon tee with a Moschino sparkle vest and Harry Rosen vintage tuxedo shoes.
Laura defenitly defines 90’s grunge with a bad ass demeanor. Laura has some of the best natural curls I have ever worked with. I went with more of an “I don’t care what my hair looks like” mood with the bandana. A touch of fuchsia in her curls just because these girls can get away with anything on the street. She is wearing a Pepe skirt with a 90’s icon tee.
Brandon is killing it on the skateboard! He’s wearing an original BMW Racer vest with an Evolve and Rebel tee. He is really the only guy I know that can get away with wearing those slick leggings too!
ALL OF THE CLOTHING USED IS 100% VINTAGE 90'S APPAREL!
Today we will be sharing the spring/summer makeup trends. This is our very first “Makeup Trends” post! We welcome the very talented Kelly Parker to give you the low down on whats going on for this spring/summer. Kelly has been working in the industry for over a decade and is experienced with style-shoots, weddings, fashions shows and she is progressive when it comes to bringing out the beauty in someones features. We hope that these ideas will give you some inspiration for the great season. Enjoy!
S/S Trend #1: The Barely There, Au Natural Look.
Keeping your skin fresh and dewy looking with a hint of a glow is key for the spring/summer makeup trendsUsing a sheer foundation or BB cream will allow to have that post Facial look.
Beauty Tip: mix a drop or two of your foundation in with your daily moisturizer to create your own sheer tinted moisturizer, that’s specific to your skin.
Having a good skincare regime is crucial to keeping your skin flawless and providing you with a healthy complexion. Perfect for this barely there makeup look. This will hit the target for spring/summer makeup trends.
S/S Trend #2: The Garden of Mauve.
Even tho we all love a great smokey eye and its a staple this season. I’m quite happy to see Mauve showing off on the runway for Spring/Summer. Different intensities can be used to transition a daytime chic look into a stunning evening oasis. This is an easy way to incorporate some colour into your day to day look for the unltimate spring/summer makeup trends.
S/S Trend #3: The Kiss Of Confidence.
A personal favourite & a must have in my makeup bag, is a stellar Red for lips. There is something about a women’s confidence that shines when she puts on that bright red. Spring/Summer is about stepping out of your comfort zone and picking up a Rouge, putting it on and embracing the heat! Whether it be a bright poppy, deep scarlet or a crimson red. Pair this with a natural, subtle eye makeup look.
S/S Trend #4: “The Cats Meow”, Eyeliners.
Winged tip eyeliner is sticking around for Spring/Summer. Some may find a full black eyeliner a bit harsh looking for daytime. Try doing your eyeliner starting at the middle of the lash line and continuing to the outer edge. Creating your winged tip at the edge.
Remember: the longer you extend your Liner, the more dramatic your cat-eye liner will look. Have some fun with colour for your eyeliner as well. Blue hues being a trend for Spring/Summer, try adding a blue liner to brighten your mood.
With so many inspiring looks this spring, it will be hard to find boredom in the array of colours you will be pleased to find. Whether it’s soft pinks and Mauves or a bright blue hue for your eyes. Maybe a bit of bronzer with a pop of red on your lips. Just a few of this years Spring & Summer Makeup Trends from Makeup Artistry By Kelly.
