Spring/Summer Hair Trends 2015

Spring seems like its finally here! For all that have been hibernating this winter it’s safe to come out and feel the buzz in the air. The hair trends for spring/summer 2015 are always my favourite due to the countless ways of wearing your hair for every summer occasion. No more worries of hair spray freezing over, no more hoodies turning those soft curls into post metal rock show hair and best of all no more static. Lets get right into it with some proposals on new/reinvented looks from the best designers and hair colours from industry influencers!

Roses and Ponies

As I have mentioned in the last couple of years the bohemian free spirited look is still going strong. This includes braids, messy up-do’s, pony tails and anything that looks lively. Dolce & Gabbana presents a red rose in a knotted low bun.

This is perfect for most evenings out and gives a great asymmetrical look. Stella McCartney and Gucci are showing low pony’s with colour matching elastics. You can spice things up by adding a few crimped pieces in to give the look an accented texture. This is great for sleek and tidy looks during cocktail hour! Alexander Wang’s show took the cake for me with the slick ombré pony. The wet looks have been coming into the modern world a little bit at a time since Prada and Armani starting pushing them. This will give the proposal an extra nudge since it involves the ombre craze.

Givenchy shows that the full fringe is out and presents choppy swept back bangs. This is a great way to bring out your eyes. To find out if you will suite the fringe I make sure that my clients’ forehead is about three fingers wide from the start of the eyebrow to the start of your hairline. This is ideal because you don’t want to create a fringe on a small forehead because it can look too square like.

I think that the spring/summer hair trends 2015 will open up in the city streets in one big wave. There are so many ways that we can create our own individuality with variations of these looks and in turn, give us that uplift we are looking for. These styles are all accomplishable but what sets them apart from the others are the condition and health of your hair. Our new Kashmir Karetin line is the hottest hair product on the market for heathy hair. The leave in conditioner mask named “The 1” is the pinnacle of healthier hair. The 1 repairs and restores dry and damaged hair while treating split ends. You can spray the cream through your ends after you towel dry it and comb through. Style and spray through your ends to protect your hair from the elements during the day.

Sombre Ombre!

To put a seal on our Spring/Summer trends for 2015 we need to formally introduce the sombre. Yes, you guessed it; a sombré is a “soft ombré”. Just like the ombré technique the hair is fading from dark roots to lighter ends. Although, with the sombre the fading is very natural looking and the roots to ends hair is usually only a difference of a couple shades. This is such an ideal style for lower maintenance. If you are a person that likes to keep your hair changing every few months then you can always give the look a darker or lighter feel by coming in for a quick toner. Ombré’s and sombre’s are defined as the icon of the whole soft beach wave trend. Just like I said in our last trend proposal, they are definitely here to stay. Feel free to bring in photos so we can narrow in on what is the best style for you, or just look through our iPad for lots more hair styles.

Cellulite and Skin Tightening

Today we’ll be talking about cellulite and skin tightening. With warmer weather comes less clothing. Picture yourself strolling down the beach while on vacation. You’ve admittedly slacked off on your bikini diet before summer started and you’re not fully comfortable in your own skin. You envisioned yourself having firmer, tighter skin while being exposed. You can’t quite think of a solution. You’re self-conscious because areas of cellulite are becoming apparent on your body. You must remember that you’re not alone and cellulite has many women running for cover. The thing about cellulite is no matter how healthy of a lifestyle you live, it can still sneak up on you when you least expect it. This is because trapped fat cell deposits and toxins have no where to go. They sit right underneath your skin which results in an uneven texture and dimpling effect.

The Machine

Contrary to popular belief: creams, lotions, sprays and massages despite their claims have not  proved to be  an effective way of cellulite removal. This is because none of these methods penetrate deeply enough to cause any physical changes in fat cells. So, you may be wondering “if none of those methods work, how the heck am i supposed to get rid of my cellulite?” The answer is simple: the Accent. The master of cellulite and skin tightening.

This is a machine that has been imported from Israel. The most notable country for designing and manufacturing gold standard equipment. Also the best quality of laser and cosmetic equipment. This system has the ability to alter the shape of fat cells. It also shrinks and remodels connective tissue to make your skin appear firmer and tighter. It doesn’t only promote collagen formation and skin remodelling by stimulating blood circulation but it also helps to flush out all the built up fatty deposits and toxins in your system.

Our Procedure

To ensure best results, it’s important to be well hydrated before and after the procedure for the fat to properly be flushed out of your system. We’ve also found that clients who exercise frequently and practice a healthy diet get even better results. However, this procedure isn’t fit for everyone.  A thorough history of your health will be taken before we proceed with any treatments. Our certified and caring technicians as well as our excellent technology have both proven to enhance the lives and boost confidence. Reducing and/or eliminating cellulite, contouring areas of concern and tightening the skin can make such a difference on how we look and feel; and who doesn’t want to feel and look good?

Testimonials and Proof

“After several treatments, I have even noticed a tighter neck and I have seen a reduction of lines on my face and a more defined jaw line. Even my brows are lifted so my eyes look more refreshed!”. This is just one of many positive feedbacks we’ve received from our clients. The procedure can be performed on the face, neck, abdomen, arms, thighs, buttocks, back of legs and inner thighs. Now you must be thinking, something like this is too good to be true, there must be a catch, it must be an extremely painful procedure. Wrong. The procedure is painless, many people say it feels similar to receiving a warm massage and it’s actually been described as rather relaxing. So what are you waiting for? Now that you know the facts you can decide if this results oriented procedure is the right fit for you.

Getting More Than Just a Facial with Vasculyse.

Have you ever looked in the mirror and just cringed at the interesting things that seem to appear from time to time? Sometimes there are just some things that makeup cannot cover up! We will be talking about a facial with Vasculyse.

Gentlemen, we know that you would love to look good as well! Not very many of us are blessed with perfect, flawless, so called “celebrity” skin. Often times the first thing that people notice in others is their face. Considering it is the first thing people look at, it often has an effect on the quality of our lives, self-esteem and our confidence.

The Young Man

A young man, in his early twenties, had his whole life turn around with the new Vasculyse Treatments. Coming in for treatments initially, he was a young man with very little self-confidence, shy and in despair. He came in with his head down, wearing a hoodie was just, “his way”. After several treatments and many skin tags later, he walked with his head up, proud and no hoodie was to be seen. The young man went from being miserable, to being joyful. The transformation was extremely inspiring and very rewarding. This man’s life has changed for the better.

Our faces should be considered as a window to the world. A lot of skin conditions can be treated quickly and efficiently. So say goodbye to stressing about your skin and hello to quick solutions with our wonderful new technologies.

With Vasculyse now available, these treatments can be done quickly, efficiently and virtually painlessly! Broken capillaries, ruby points, milia, cholesterol deposits around the eyes and skin tags (Whether they are on our face, neck, or body) can be treated easily. One of the best technologies available today, is the Vasculyse Machine.

The Machine

The Vasculyse Machine is a computerized system that is non-invasive and uses mild currents to the area of concern. This treatment is called Capillary Coalysis or Coagulation. The technician works around works the area with the tip which is used only once per client-in order to maintain strict and proper sanitation procedures. You might feel a slight pricking sensation during the treatment, although, it is over so fast that it’s hardly a noticeable concern. Since we are cutting off blood flow to the distended area, skin tags and broken capillaries will not return. You may find that you are developing skin tags and broken capillaries in other areas if you are prone to these conditions. Some of them may also be genetic but using good skin care and sunscreen is very important for healthy skin.

The technician using the system must be trained and knowledgeable with a good understating of the skin. A good consultation is always paramount with any skin treatment. We need to know what concerns you have because we all require different needs.

The pictures at https://www.pinosalon.com/medispa/vasculyse-treatment/  are helpful in identifying what conditions you may have.  The photos demonstrate results. Getting more than just a facial will be a wonderful thing.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly on Laser Hair Removal.

Finally the Good, the Bad and the Ugly about Laser Hair Removal. This blog has been on my mind for so long! It is very frustrating for professionals in the business to bear witness to the continuous onslaught of advertising, marketing, false promises and unbelievable cheap pricing without seeing results. This is our opinion in order to help consumers make the best decision when considering laser hair removal.

The Good

Let us start with the “Good.” Laser hair removal is a wonderful treatment for permanent hair reduction. The best candidate has a light to medium skin tone with dark hair. Skin that is considered darker can sometimes be treated after a test patch has been performed. Even a technician with experience must use caution and much lower settings if treating darker skin (i.e. No darker than Halle Berry). Using the right equipment is paramount for safety and results. Multiple treatments are required to achieve the desired goal.

The good news is that 95% of clients will get between 70 to 95% hair reduction and with the odd maintenance treatment you should have lasting results unless you experience hormonal changes, illnesses or begin taking certain medications. It is very important to disclose any medications that you take to your technician before starting treatment and sun exposure and tanning beds must be avoided during the course of your treatments. By working with your technician and following the guidelines, you will enjoy silky smooth skin and it is indeed awesome not having to shave, tweeze, pull, yank or depilate.

The Lasers!

There are many good lasers on the market. One of the top lasers is the Soprano XL and it’s considered the gold standard in laser hair removal. The Soprano uses 810 diode laser technology. It penetrates deep into the dermis (where the hair follicle is located) and with the proper settings of power, wavelength and pulse duration you can destroy the hair follicle without damaging skin. Discomfort levels have improved in the last 5 years with the new technology and many people find it comfortable to treat even sensitive areas. A “true” laser looks for dark pigment in order to destroy the hair follicle and stop the growth of the hair. Unfortunately, most establishments cannot afford a good laser since it can run upwards of 80K for a CSA and FDA approved laser.

The Bad

The “Bad” is bad! When you have a powerful piece of equipment in your hands and you are not properly trained to use it….it can be very bad! Burns can result if your technician is not trained properly and certified to use the equipment. The companies that sell this equipment will gladly give you a few hours of training when you buy their equipment. This is not enough! Thorough theory based training as well as lots of practice must be completed before you even start thinking about selling your laser hair removal services.

Health histories must be taken and clients that are not good candidates cannot be treated. End of story. Safety is always first and foremost with any treatment. No exceptions. Make sure to choose an establishment that has a good laser, good technicians and a good track record for making clients happy both with service quality, sanitation and good results.

The Ugly

And now we have the “Ugly”. Which unfortunately, is what the industry has created. “Oh, yes, come on in…step this way! We can treat red hair, blonde hair, grey hair and white hair!” Actually….NO! We can’t. Up until now there is no scientific evidence of permanent hair reduction for clients with those particular hair colours. Laser again, is drawn toward dark pigment in order to penetrate the hair follicle. If you do not have dark hair then the laser cannot find the pigment to destroy blood flow to the follicle. No dark pigment, no results; it’s that simple.

Not only do consumers have to deal with false claims but they also tend to be convinced into paying minimal amounts of money yielded with no results. There is no possible way a reputable business can sell effective treatments with proven equipment and professional technicians at prices that are below market pricing. It’s so unfortunate when clients purchase group coupon type packages and get poor results, terrible service and most often the business disappears before they have completed their packages. Why not pay a little more for a safe and effective service?

Before committing, do some research and make an informed decision. Let’s also remember the good old saying, “You get what you pay for”. Look for quality and you will get the results.

Hair Trends for Spring/Summer 2014

I’m sure everyone is ready to reduce the layers of clothing weighing us down from the long winter; fret not, it’s time to bring in the summer flavours. We all know that the way we dress begins with our hair and this season is no exception. The high end designers play a big role in how the hair is conjoined with the clothing presented on the runway.

Joseph Alturazza Knows What Women Want

Altuzarra is a designer that I wanted to mention quickly; he has been proving himself quite often in recent years. One of Joseph Alturazza’s goals is to make the sophisticated modern women feel seductive, strong and confident. This description of his modern women is perfect for the low ponytail because it gives enough confidence to sweep across the boardroom as she walks in. The low pony is such a quick and easy style to perform, even from home, you will be able to master it in no time (if you haven’t been doing this already!) Comb all of your hair back towards the nape of your neck while not worrying about the wispy strands that will fall, this will aid in providing a youthful look to the low pony. Wiggle the pony from left to right before securing it at the nape to create a soft finish. Secure with a hair elastic and spray with Brilliante Glossing Spray from Kaaral. Its as simple as that!

The “Trend Cycle”

Trends tend to blossom every season for many different reasons. The inspiration for new trends can come from art, designer clothing, architecture, environmental movement, fashion week, celebrities and many more! I have my own philosophy on the “Trend Cycle”. I believe that the cycle begins from one of the outlets I’ve mentioned. Once someone with a great representation of style (editorial hairstylists, platform hairstylists, creative directors,..etc) proposes these trends through their work, people will start seeing them in the magazines and streets of larger european cities. There is quite a long process for these proposals to get across the pond to North america. If they do, it’s usually because a celebrity starts rocking a new style presented to them by their hairdresser/image consultant. The last part of the “Trend Cycle” involves the general public being exposed to any form of media or browsing through the magazines and deciding on a new style to take on. My favourite outlet to gather inspiration for use with clients is Pinterest.

 Waves For Days

The aforementioned trends evolve from season to season. The natural ombre is still going strong and its decline is not foreseen anytime soon. Additionally, the long, lazy beach /wave is still quite popular going into SS14, although we do respectively think it has lasted a bit too long for its time and we hope to find the new, hot style very soon. As the waves continue, there are still impressions ready to be made with these waved designs:
