What is a medical peel? Medical Peels are an accelerated form of exfoliation, induced through stimulation by a chemical action of the skin. The medical peel’s depth of action makes it possible to revitalize and refresh your skin. They are safe and common practice. Superficial medical peels contain Alpha-hydroxy acids and Beta-hydroxy acids, particularly glycolic acid, which is the smallest molecule in fruit acid. For medium medical peels, the most commonly used agent is TCA.
What is The benefit of a medical peel? A medical peel in no way alters the shape of your face. It is an entirely natural and effective procedure performed by a
professional. It is discreet, so those around you will find you radiant without knowing why!
Do I need to prepare before beginning a medical peel treatment? It is strongly recommended to use the home care prescribed by your technician to prepare your skin. You will need to start care at least weeks before your first medical peel.
What happens during a medical peel session? A session generally lasts approximately 30 minutes and is made up of several steps: the cleansing of the area to be treated, the application of the medical peel and finally, only in certain cases, neutralization. For most medical peels, you need to do at least 4 sessions a couple of weeks apart.
What are the after effects of a medical peel? A few hours after the medical peel session, a slight redness to a sunburn effect will appear, depending on the type of medical peel treatment you have received.
Is a medical peel painful? During the application of the peeling agent, you will feel tingling, a perfectly bearable feeling of heat and then everything will settle down.
What safety precautions should I take? Tell your laser technician if you are pregnant, have had any allergic reactions, or are undergoing any beauty (hair removal, tanning, micro-dermabrasion) or medical treatment. You must be sure to protect yourself from the sun (Sun Ceutic) for at least a month after treatment.
We have four types of medical peels that treat everything from oily, acne-prone skin to dilated pores, fine lines, pigmented spots and hyperpigmentation.

As I sipped my coffee this morning during my drive into the office, I found
myself thinking about how difficult it is for young adults and teenagers to
treat break outs and acne. A beautiful young woman with severe acne served me, at the coffee shop today. It made me ponder how her skin condition was impacting her everyday life. It brought back sad memories of a young man and his struggle with acne. He tried everything! He used the best skin care products and had
some of the most effective facials on the market. He ate healthy and spent years suffering from the frustration of never being able to attain clear skin.
His body was telling him something through his skin. He has recently been diagnosed with Celiac Disease and finally has the answer to his frustrations. Celiac Disease is a condition that causes damage to the lining of the small intestine as a result of eating gluten, which is found in wheat, barley, rye and possible oats. The intestine becomes unable to absorb parts of food that is integral to good health.
While some Celiac Disease sufferers may have digestive discomfort, most do not. Many may instead experience inflammation in the skin (acne, eczema & psoriasis), joints (arthritis), respiratory tract (asthma, allergies) and brain (brain fog, poor memory, dizziness, etc.). One in every 133 people have Celiac Disease. With over 250 different symptoms, it’s extremely hard to diagnose and most symptoms can be different with every individual. There are many different diseases that can contribute to skin problems.
We are not saying that if you have acne, you may have Celiac Disease or any other disease. We are suggesting that a complete exploration should take place if you
are not getting results with the combination of good skin practices and healthy
eating. Acne can be hormonal at any age but eating clean and drinking a lot of water can be beneficial along with a good skin care regime. The Silk Peel Facial, offered at Pino’s salon & medispa, is also very helpful in mechanically deep cleansing your skin and removing blockages, blackheads and impurities. We also carry a great acne skin care line that has proven to be beneficial for a lot of our
clients who suffer with acne or breakouts. It contains an effective blend of Salicylic Acid and two proven, acne fighting AHA’s. It also, contains tea tree, that helps purge impurities and helps dramatically reduce oil, blackheads and whiteheads. Acne is an inflammatory skin condition with the main characteristics being
superficial skin breakouts. We cannot rely on just one method to treat acne; we must approach it on many different levels to obtain great results.
We personally know how skin conditions can affect your life. It can affect your self-confidence, your self esteem and many other aspects of your life. Allow us to help you. We offer free consultations performed by our qualified aestheticians and laser technicians. If we can’t help you then perhaps we can lead you in the right direction in exploring the possibility of internal health issues.
Winter is the absolute best time of year to target brown spots, rosacea and rejuvenate dull gray looking skin. Even if you’re just looking for an overall improvement in skin tone, texture and reduction in pore size, NOW is the time to start treatments. So how can you use the winter months to improve your skin? With Pino’s medispa AFT photofacial treatments!
Our photofacial technology treatment uses high intensity pulses of light to
treat a variety of skin conditions including brown spots, skin redness,
rosacea, broken capillaries and uneven skin tone. The light targets the surface of your skin to effectively eliminate the unwanted discolorations.
The treatments are quick and require little or no down time.
It’s normal for your skin to feel tight or like a sun burn for a few
hours after treatment. It is particularly important to stay out of the sun between treatments in order to prevent further brown spots from appearing.
Wearing a sun block of at least 25 or higher will further protect your
skin during treatment. Winter months are ideal for photofacial therapy because there is less sun exposure to the skin. Usually, within a few hours after treatment
your brown spots will darken but over the next 1-2 weeks the dark spots
gradually fade or flake off.
Avoid tweezing, waxing or bleaching
during the course of treatment
Avoid any products that contain Retin-A,
Benzoyl Peroxide or astringents
Protect your rejuvenated skin all year round with a broad spectrum sun block. (Colorescience sunscreen is a powdered mineral that is safe and paraben free, available at Pino’s salon & medispa)
