SS17 Hair Trends

Spring Summer 2017 Trends

Can you believe we are actually here? Summer! One of Canadas most cherished times! Along with summer we associate many things. Camping, swimming, fishing, canoeing, blah blah blah…lets get real here! We love these activities, but, we LOVE the main ingredient that makes all of these things amazing: THE SUN! In turn, we are proposing what makes us feel free as we reacquaint ourselves in form of style and hair.

It’s all about being comfortable with our natural beauty and feeling free. This is where our Spring Summer 17’ trends stem from. We will be proposing a series of fun and wearable looks within our collection this year. Referencing reliable sources but most of all the looks coming from our own creative ideas. Let’s will jump right into the fun!

Showing off that pink & lavender pastel!

As we all know the balayage/ombre looks are here to stay and are in full effect for who want a natural look. These looks are also created for people that like to be more daring and love fantasy colours. Our proposal this season is “natural meets fantasy”. We took variations of blending methods and incorporated them with silver-blonds and pastel colours. The incorporation of braids to create a bohemian look is very big this season as well. Deriving from people going to music festivals to people using braids for convenience at the gym. Keep reading to find out why pastel colours suite you more than you would think…

PASTEL PERFORMANCE

Look created by Pino. 50’s inspired pompadour

The wonderful thing about pastel colours is that they give your skin tone the immediate illusion of a tan. Just think about why people go lighter. The visual of a blonde with no gold tones in will suite almost every skin tone. Add a muted colour (pastel) to this and you are generally still a high lift blonde looking like you just got back from a quick 3 day getaway in the Bahamas.

Pink  & Lavender Crossroads

Our first model (Emily) is what hair colourists consider a rare gem. This means that she has natural virgin hair and has never coloured it! Since we are working with such a great palette (Natural level 6-7) we had the opportunity to create pastel colours. The pastels formed from a silver shadow root and went into a pink and lavender. To achieve this we had to lighten Emily’s hair as light as we could past a pale yellow. As you can see in the pictures we created the shadow root first and then applied our pastel using a balayage technique. The pastel lavender was placed around the nape area so that when she braids her hair both pastel colours will intertwine with each other and create a boho meets fantasy look. There are endless ways of showing off these colours. Soft waves so the lavender can peek through, straight, so you can see the seamless blend of the shadow root.

Here is our SS17 Collection in photos! Enjoy!

Spring Summer Fashion Trends

Ready for Spring Summer Fashion Trends? In connection to my spring/summer trends 2015 I wanted to feature some fashion to go along with the hair. Now, I do know the basics and the “do nots” about fashion but when it comes to fashion trends I have to guide people to a friend of mine. Kassi Meslo knows the ins and outs along with whats hot for this spring/summer. She has been in the fashion industry for many years and only brings in the best for each season to her boutique. Kassi shares the run down for the people!

THE LOOKS

The spring summer 2015 runway shows proved that fantasy in a garden full of florals and lace have truly come to life. The look is serene, clean and feminine mean. Chanels show case was something of a modern day Alice In Wonderland meets fairy princess at Dolce and Gabbana. Crocheted caps attached with peakaboo viels and baubles galore.

John Galliano

Spring Summer fashion trends by John Gallianos

John Gallianos first show since 2011 for Maison Martin Margiela turned out black and white, kahki tones and detailed black ensembles. If you are in doubt what pieces to add to this seasons wardrobe look no further than the following: Glamorous jumpers, leg slit long dresses, shirtdresses, anything yellow from amber, canary, saffron to marigold. Gingham, black and white, culotte pants, blue and white combos, kimono type trench coats (as seen above). Pops of lavender, head to toe white (as seen for Roberto Cavalli and Balenciaga) , skin toned fabrics and detailing, obi belts (great for whittling the waist). The spring summer fashion trends also include flats, slides and sneakers paired with dresses are also essentials. One shoulder cuts, roomy denim, and if your daring the fancy apron. This is just to sum up the essentials. Now what are you waiting for? Get shopping!

Spring/Summer Hair Trends 2015

Spring seems like its finally here! For all that have been hibernating this winter it’s safe to come out and feel the buzz in the air. The hair trends for spring/summer 2015 are always my favourite due to the countless ways of wearing your hair for every summer occasion. No more worries of hair spray freezing over, no more hoodies turning those soft curls into post metal rock show hair and best of all no more static. Lets get right into it with some proposals on new/reinvented looks from the best designers and hair colours from industry influencers!

Roses and Ponies

As I have mentioned in the last couple of years the bohemian free spirited look is still going strong. This includes braids, messy up-do’s, pony tails and anything that looks lively. Dolce & Gabbana presents a red rose in a knotted low bun.

This is perfect for most evenings out and gives a great asymmetrical look. Stella McCartney and Gucci are showing low pony’s with colour matching elastics. You can spice things up by adding a few crimped pieces in to give the look an accented texture. This is great for sleek and tidy looks during cocktail hour! Alexander Wang’s show took the cake for me with the slick ombré pony. The wet looks have been coming into the modern world a little bit at a time since Prada and Armani starting pushing them. This will give the proposal an extra nudge since it involves the ombre craze.

Givenchy shows that the full fringe is out and presents choppy swept back bangs. This is a great way to bring out your eyes. To find out if you will suite the fringe I make sure that my clients’ forehead is about three fingers wide from the start of the eyebrow to the start of your hairline. This is ideal because you don’t want to create a fringe on a small forehead because it can look too square like.

I think that the spring/summer hair trends 2015 will open up in the city streets in one big wave. There are so many ways that we can create our own individuality with variations of these looks and in turn, give us that uplift we are looking for. These styles are all accomplishable but what sets them apart from the others are the condition and health of your hair. Our new Kashmir Karetin line is the hottest hair product on the market for heathy hair. The leave in conditioner mask named “The 1” is the pinnacle of healthier hair. The 1 repairs and restores dry and damaged hair while treating split ends. You can spray the cream through your ends after you towel dry it and comb through. Style and spray through your ends to protect your hair from the elements during the day.

Sombre Ombre!

To put a seal on our Spring/Summer trends for 2015 we need to formally introduce the sombre. Yes, you guessed it; a sombré is a “soft ombré”. Just like the ombré technique the hair is fading from dark roots to lighter ends. Although, with the sombre the fading is very natural looking and the roots to ends hair is usually only a difference of a couple shades. This is such an ideal style for lower maintenance. If you are a person that likes to keep your hair changing every few months then you can always give the look a darker or lighter feel by coming in for a quick toner. Ombré’s and sombre’s are defined as the icon of the whole soft beach wave trend. Just like I said in our last trend proposal, they are definitely here to stay. Feel free to bring in photos so we can narrow in on what is the best style for you, or just look through our iPad for lots more hair styles.

Hair Trends for Spring/Summer 2014

I’m sure everyone is ready to reduce the layers of clothing weighing us down from the long winter; fret not, it’s time to bring in the summer flavours. We all know that the way we dress begins with our hair and this season is no exception. The high end designers play a big role in how the hair is conjoined with the clothing presented on the runway.

Joseph Alturazza Knows What Women Want

Altuzarra is a designer that I wanted to mention quickly; he has been proving himself quite often in recent years. One of Joseph Alturazza’s goals is to make the sophisticated modern women feel seductive, strong and confident. This description of his modern women is perfect for the low ponytail because it gives enough confidence to sweep across the boardroom as she walks in. The low pony is such a quick and easy style to perform, even from home, you will be able to master it in no time (if you haven’t been doing this already!) Comb all of your hair back towards the nape of your neck while not worrying about the wispy strands that will fall, this will aid in providing a youthful look to the low pony. Wiggle the pony from left to right before securing it at the nape to create a soft finish. Secure with a hair elastic and spray with Brilliante Glossing Spray from Kaaral. Its as simple as that!

The “Trend Cycle”

Trends tend to blossom every season for many different reasons. The inspiration for new trends can come from art, designer clothing, architecture, environmental movement, fashion week, celebrities and many more! I have my own philosophy on the “Trend Cycle”. I believe that the cycle begins from one of the outlets I’ve mentioned. Once someone with a great representation of style (editorial hairstylists, platform hairstylists, creative directors,..etc) proposes these trends through their work, people will start seeing them in the magazines and streets of larger european cities. There is quite a long process for these proposals to get across the pond to North america. If they do, it’s usually because a celebrity starts rocking a new style presented to them by their hairdresser/image consultant. The last part of the “Trend Cycle” involves the general public being exposed to any form of media or browsing through the magazines and deciding on a new style to take on. My favourite outlet to gather inspiration for use with clients is Pinterest.

 Waves For Days

The aforementioned trends evolve from season to season. The natural ombre is still going strong and its decline is not foreseen anytime soon. Additionally, the long, lazy beach /wave is still quite popular going into SS14, although we do respectively think it has lasted a bit too long for its time and we hope to find the new, hot style very soon. As the waves continue, there are still impressions ready to be made with these waved designs:
